Subway customer left cheesed off over 'joke' nachos and salad delivery

A Subway customer told how she was left stunned by her "absolute joke" meal - and further shocked by the response to her complaints. Gemma Myers from Redcar had ordered from her local store on the town's High Street via Uber Eats.

She chose the 'Nachos Your Way' dish with cheese and jalapenos, along with a salad. When the delivery arrived, Gemma opened the box and found the nachos with a dollop of a salsa-type sauce in the middle - but no cheese or jalapenos.

The 31-year-old said there was only one word to describe the dish - "awful". She said: "I actually thought was this some kind of joke.

"How on earth did they feel that was an acceptable? My salad looked nice but they forgot the cheese on that also!"

Gemma had also shared the picture on her Facebook page and tagged Subway. Other people had commented on the picture, with one saying: "That’s daylight robbery. Most places are disgusting these days with their servings and portions."

The salad also came without the shredded cheddar and mozzarella she ordered (Gemma Myers)

After complaining, Gemma said Uber Eats initially offered her 78p. "Absolute joke," she said.

"I told them I wanted a full refund for the nachos as it wasn’t what I ordered or up to standard. But they refused."

Subway US got in touch but then asked her to contact the UK branch. The 31-year-old, who is a busy mum and registered nurse, said: "To be fair I have better things to do with my time."

Gemma later received a full refund from Uber Eats. Subway said in a statement: "We are sorry to hear that a guest was not happy with their order from their local Subway. Our guest care team has reached out to the customer for more details, so we can put the restaurant owner directly in touch to find a resolution.”

A spokesperson for Uber Eats said: "We are sorry that there was an issue with this order and we have since processed a full refund. We would encourage any user who has a problem with an order to reach out to us via the Help section in the app."
