HYDERABAD: Congress and BJP have a ‘back-up’ in the Huzurabad assembly bypolls, whereas the ruling TRS has chosen not to get a substitute candidate file the nomination.
The filing of nominations ended on Friday. A cursory look of all nominations filed shows that TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav was marked as ‘main candidate’ in the column provided in the list prepared by the election authorities. For the BJP, Eatala Jamuna, wife of BJP candidate Eatala Rajendar, has been listed as ‘substitute candidate’.
Linga Reddy Vontela’s name has been listed as ‘substitute candidate’ of Congress while Venkat Narsing Rao Balmoor is the ‘main candidate’.
Such substitute nominations are filed as a matter of abundant caution so that if an official applicant’s name were to be rejected on any grounds, the parties will still have their candidates in the fray. A party’s B-form is only given to the official candidate and submitted to the election authorities.
Interestingly, three persons by the name of ‘Rajender’ have filed their nominations. Eppapelli Rajendar of Banda Ankoos Wada in Huzurabad mandal in Karimnagar district has filed his nomination as candidate of All India BC, OBC Party, Esampally Rajender of Kothapet village in Hanamkonda filed his nomination as a candidate of New India Party and Emmadi Rajendar, also of Kothapet, filed his papers as a candidate of the Republic Party of India.
