Subsiding house built on fault line for sale at low cost - but needs thousands for repairs

This house which has been built on a fault line has gone on the market - despite it subsiding.

But any buyer will need to dig deep to get it in a liveable state.

The three bedroom detached house in in Rosslyn Road, Whitwick, near Coalville, needs £100,000 to address “significant” damage that’s been caused as a result of subsidence, Leicestershire Live reports.

And not only that, but any potential buyer will also need to shell out £120,000 on a full rewiring job on the house.

Only cash offers are being accepted for the house, and all bids needing to be made in writing with proof of funds.

The house lies on the Thringstone fault - a geological fault which starts at Bardon Hill and goes through Whitwick before reaching the village of Thringstone, where it gets its name from.

However, it is not known if the fault is the exact cause for the subsidence the property has suffered.

It's listing on Rightmove says : “This property has suffered significant subsidence and the damage is considered to be medium/high,” said a Rightmove spokesman.

“The property is located near to the Thringstone fault and there is evidence some movement is still ongoing whilst the cost of repairs have been estimated to be in excess of £120,000 in addition to a full rewire.

“Further investigations have also been recommended to identify the exact cause of the subsidence."

The house is being sold via Rightmove, and the seller can be contacted on 01530 540043.
