Stylist warns never to put jeans in washing machine - and shares what to do instead
When our clothes get dirty, it’s common sense to wash them – and while some clothes can be chucked in the washing machine, some more delicate items still require washing by hand.
But one woman on TikTok has claimed you shouldn’t be putting your jeans anywhere near the washing machine or a sink of water.
Stylist Rayna Batal, who posts as @raynabatal, says washing your jeans will not only fade their colour, but will also warp their fit so they never feel the same again.
So, what does Rayna say you should do instead? Put them in the freezer to kill the bacteria.

In her video, she explained: “Do not wash your jeans! Don’t do it. It affects the fit and the colour – they will fade, and they will never fit the same.
“Throw them in a Ziplock bag and put them in the freezer for two days. Good as new.”
The woman admitted her tip sounds “gross”, but insisted the hack really does work.
She captioned the video: “Do Not Wash Your Jeans! I know it’s gross, but trust me!”
Rayna’s advice comes after the CEO of Levi’s actually made similar statements about not washing your denim.
Chip Bergh admitted that his jeans had "never seen the inside of a washing machine”, and said he instead "spot cleans" stains with a toothbrush.
The businessman said: "The point I was trying to make, though, importantly - it was a wake-up call to consumers that we go into autopilot and after we've finished wearing something, we just automatically toss it into the laundry.
"A good pair of denim doesn't really need to be washed in the washing machine - except for very infrequently or rarely."
Pairing Chip’s technique of spot cleaning with Rayna’s freezer tip should help you keep your jeans spotless and fresh without having to worry about losing colour or sacrificing that perfect fit.
