Stylish pan-Asian restaurant to open in former Grill on New York Street site

A new Vietnamese-style restaurant is set to open in Manchester next month, taking over what was once one of the city centre's most popular steakhouses.

Namii Kitchen and Cocktails has snapped up the old The Grill On New York Street site a short distance from Piccadilly Gardens.

The popular steakhouse, part of the Blackhouse group, went into administration last June.

The site's new owners are turning it into a stylish pan-Asian restaurant space, set to open in November.

Namii's menu will include Vietnamese staples like pho, banh mi and summer rolls, but will also offer a brunch menu with an 'Asian twist'.

Expect modern brunch dishes like eggs royale with a honey miso dressing.

Live music and DJs will provide entertainment in the restaurant at the weekends.

They say their cocktail menu has been 'inspired by Vietnamese mythology and folklore', with drinks including The Horse of Iron (made with Ming River baijiu (a clear spirit that is China's national drink), Roku gin, gingko kernels and wasabi syrup).

The restaurant will focus on sustainability, working with brands like ecoSpirits to eliminate packaging waste and reduce their carbon footprint.

There'll be monthly residencies from spirit and wine brands too, with tickets events including tastings and tasting menus.

Owner and managing director Terence Lee said: "We can’t wait to open our doors in Manchester. The city has established itself as one of the UK’s most exciting food destinations over the past decade and we’re thrilled to be able to add to the line-up."

John Clossick, sales and marketing manager, said: "Namii Kitchen & Cocktails is a new, bold concept, blending authentic Vietnamese food, flavours and technique with modern service, style and setting.

"Food is the centre of so many social occasions, and we want the restaurant to be somewhere friends can get together and catch up over a great dining experience."

Namii Kichen and Cocktails is set to open its doors on New York Street on Saturday November 6.
