Stylish new gastropub opens in Edinburgh's Morningside with beer garden

The pub chain who brought Edinburgh Cold Town House have opened their latest venue in the heart of Morningside.

McLarens on the Corner is a new family-friendly gastropub that even boasts a beer garden, which is likely to catch the raise during the summer and become a hit with locals.

Formerly a Bank of Scotland branch, the pub chain have worked their magic on the Morningside Road building, bringing to the neighbourhood a stylish new watering hole where you can grab a pint and a bite to eat.

Spanning across three floors, the 300-capacity venue is not short of seating and different areas have been designed to reflect customers' needs - whether it's a date night, family meal or a catch up with friends.

On the ground floor, you will find a quirky bar that features a winning combination of fire pits and tasty beer, and leads out to the garden area - dogs are also welcome in this area.

Meanwhile, the next two levels consist of the "Parlour & Tellers' Room" and a rather cosy loft area where you can escape the hustle and bustle of downstairs, and can even phone down to the bar to place your order.

Open from 8am until midnight, food is served until 10pm daily and it will not disappoint with many of the pub grub classics, cakes, the option to build your own burger or salad and a full kids’ menu.

The "Morning Croll" looks particularly delicious - which is McLarens' twist on a morning roll, served in a croissant sandwich with a choice of mouthwatering fillings that include Crombies' Pork Sausage and bacon.

Plans for the pub at Holy Corner got underway in 2018, when Signature Pubs Limited first got the go-ahead to transform the site.

This is not the first conversion in the pub chain's portfolio following the launch of  Cold Town House in the Grassmarket, which saw a former church transformed into a new pub and brewery - reviving a brewing tradition on the street which dates back to the 16th Century.
