Style with Demelza De Burca: Embrace Autumn with these hot overcoats

Tea and biscuits, choco-late and caramel – next season’s top trend is as tasty as it sounds.

Following on from last year’s beige colour palette, 50 shades of earthy, autumnal brown dominated the AW19 catwalks.

Everyone from Chloe, Fendi and Rochas to Tod’s and Jacquemus opted for the warm and easy-to-wear buttery tones.

Victoria Beckham, Loewe, Jil Sander and Margaret Howell also led the way into the new season, with their take on toasty hues. Irish designer Simone Rocha, Jonathan Cohen and Rejina Pyo paraded sweeping midi coats in glorious, golden browns.

If you’re in the market for a new coat then investing in outerwear in tonal shades in the easiest way to adopt the trend.

Choosing the perfect coat is easily the biggest fashion deci- sion to make as the weather

turns cold as it is layered over every outfit. A classic trench coat has remained a timeless staple and we love Zara’s heavier winter version, €89.95.

Another winter must-have is a faux fur coat, such as Topshop’s snugly, double breasted creation, €103.

Meanwhile, Mango evoked crisp, clean winter air and crackling fires with its cosy cape (€119.99) teamed with chic knee-high boots (€189.99).
