Tune in, turn on, dress up!
Hippie chic is back for spring summer ‘19 boasting relaxed looks for free spirits.
Ever since Yves Saint Laurent created hippie de luxe in the 70s, the trend has been through endless fashion revivals.
For SS19, designers were once again inspired by casual glamour teamed with tribal totems, pilgrimages to Ibiza, Joshua Tree or an ashram in India.
Think 70s Jimmy Hendrix and Talitha Getty with sun-kissed hues and neutrals, clashing geometric prints, scarf dresses, artisan knits, fringing and crochet shoulder sacks.
Long, languid and sensual, saturated in warm desert and sunset hues were seen at Chloé and Loewe, while clashing carpet and tile prints, were paraded at the Paco Rabanne and Philip Lim runways.
Style on Sunday: Pretty prints to put a spring in your step
Meanwhile, Prada, Proenza Schouler, Stella McCartney and R13 turned tie-dye into a catwalk trend and the high street is already making copies. We love Topshop’s tie-dye, slip dress, €52.
The hippe delxue trend has also been adopted by Zara’s SS19 Studio collection.
The range has been inspired by the reds, oranges, yellows, browns of the desert systems of Marrakech, Morocco and other African nations.
Turn heads in ASOS Design's maxi dress in colour block with metal circle waist trim, €89.86, while Mango's open-work dress (€59.99) is a must for your holiday wardrobe.
