Style on Sunday: Glastonbury serves up some fashion inspiration for the summer festival season

Dressing for summer festivals in Ireland usually means a uniform of wellies and some type of waterproof jacket. But if the current dry spells are anything to go by we might be able to switch it up this year.

It may be mid July but some of the biggest music festivals are yet to come such as All Together Now, Beatyard, Another Love Story, and Electric Picnic.

Last month, the A list fashion pack descended on Glastonbury and served up some style inspiration for the upcoming events.

For her first day of the festival, actress Sienna Miller battled the heatwave in a white linen jumpsuit with a pair of crisscross sandals from Sorel.

Much like California’s Coachella, Worthy Farm has become a key location for brands to promote new launches. Alexa Chung used the festival as a chance to promote the new jackets she designed with Barbour and for day one of the fest, she wore her trench lined with a heritage-check print teamed with a pretty white prairie dress and Chylak’s mini belt bag.

On the second day, she rocked her patchwork tan-and-khaki design. The chic looks are a lesson in grown up dressing for festivals in 2019, a far cry from the days of cut-offs and flowercrowns.

Kate Moss, the ultimate festival icon, was notably absent from the celebrity line up at Glasto but she did make an appearance at Bob Dylan and Neil Young’s BST Hyde Park gig.

The 46-year-old supermodel rocked a gorgeous black lace detail maxi dress and accessorised with an embellished belt and French Sole ballet pumps.

Investing in a prairie dress is one of the easiest way to update your festival look for SS19.

There are plenty of gorgeous options on the high street at the moment such as & Other Stories’ bib midi dress, €99 and the Y. A. S festival floral sheer maxi dress with crochet detail €103.69, available at Asos.

We also love Zara’s late summer drops which have hints of Alexa’s Glasto look, such as the embellished midi dress (€89.95) teamed with a trench coat, €89.95 and the poplin blouse €39.95 with jeans.
