Style Notes: What the ES Magazine team are loving right now

ART SCHOOL

Think of Louis Vuitton’s bestselling Capucines bag as a blank canvas.

That was the instruction given to six contemporary artists by the French fashion house for its latest handbag launch. The results? LA artist Alex Israel inserted two plexiglass surfboard fins, painter Jonas Wood depicted a jungle motif in 200,000 stitches, while sculptor Urs Fischer added dangling silicone bananas.

HAT TRICKS

Throw some shade with Le Grand, this summer’s biggest sun hat from Eliurpi. Too much? These other brims won’t require a seat reservation on your EasyJet flight.

RAIN CHECK

The queen of the Barbour ’n’ wellies look (no, not the Duchess of Cambridge) has lent her design eye to the UK outerwear brand in time for festival season. Alexa Chung’s range includes popping pullovers and a patchwork wax jacket that will do the trick come rain or shine.

IT'S COMING HOME

Fashion has gone football mad thanks to the Women’s World Cup. Nike has tapped young hot designers Marine Serre, Yoon Ahn and Christelle Kocher to give their spins on the football shirt, while Asos’s active line 4505 has a range that looks just as good off the pitch.

FANATICAL

The fan has had a fashion makeover (Rihanna carries one), thanks in part to buzzy London-based fan specialists, Fern Fans. Now the brand has collaborated with & Other Stories on a collection; expect to see them fluttered at a wedding near you soon. From £50 (stories.com)

Run by mother-and-daughter team Bernadette and Charlotte de Geyter, the Antwerp-based label nails printed floral dresses (all hand-drawn) in easy breezy shapes that fit the brief for weddings, holiday evenings and beyond.
