FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Daimler, Porsche <VOWG_p.DE> and Bosch [ROBG.UL] may face a probe for regulatory offences related to potential emissions cheating, the Stuttgart prosecutors' office said on Thursday, a day after Braunschweig prosecutors fined Volkswagen 1 billion euros ($1.2 bln) for the same violation.
Braunschweig fined VW for regulatory infringements, criticizing organizational deficiencies that failed to prevent unauthorized software from being installed in 10.7 million VW cars between 2007 and 2015.
Stuttgart prosecutors, who are responsible for probing carmakers and auto suppliers with headquarters in Baden-Wuerttemberg, have already launched diesel-emissions probes against known and unknown employees at Daimler, Porsche and auto supplier Bosch.
Upon being asked whether an "administrative order" is being considered as part of the diesel probes, the Stuttgart prosecutor's office said: "In all these proceedings it is possible that a regulatory offence procedure will be carried out, we are still evaluating this possibility."
