Stunning Vlahovic move, 'Gladiator' wanted and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Manchester United could look at the January transfer window in order to strengthen their squad.

It will be the first time that United boss Ralf Rangnick is given the chance to adapt his team, be it by signing players or letting them go.

United could look to add a midfielder in the January window having missed out on a defensively-minded centre-mid in the summer.

However, the prospect of any big move looks unlikely at this stage and the winter market will probably be used to find game-time for younger players and move on those who are on the fringes of Rangnick's squad.

Rangnick has been steadfast in his approach to the mid-season window, which is difficult for most clubs to navigate.

Here, we look at the latest United transfer gossip and rumours...

Vlahovic claims emerge

Radio station talkSPORT is claiming that United have joined the race to sign red-hot Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina.

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have all been linked with a move for the player, who is out of contract in 18 months.

“We’ve offered Vlahovic the highest contract ever in the history of Fiorentina, several times,” Joe Barone, a Fiorentina director, told Italian media outlet Repubblica.

“Both Dusan and his agent made us realise that they do not want to accept. Our bid is still on the table.”

Senesi battle as clubs keep tabs

United are reportedly keeping an eye on Feyenoord centre-back Marcos Senesi.

Website 90Min.com reports that Senesi is also interesting Premier League rivals West Ham United, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Tottenham.

The 24 year-old has made 26 appearances for Feyenoord this season, with the Argentine proving a hit with the club's supporters who have nicknamed him 'The Gladiator'.

He is out of contract in 18 month's time, meaning he could be signed for a knock-down fee.

Barca eye 'plan A' Cavani move

ESPN Brasil report that United striker Edinson Cavani, who has been linked with moves to Brazilian giants Corinthians and Palmeiras, is now firmly in Barcelona's sights.

The retirement of Sergio Aguero has opened the door to a forward signing for the Nou Camp side and a move for Cavani is said to be on the agenda for Barca.

And they could speed up their efforts to land the Uruguay hitman, who is out of contract in the summer.

The World Cup in December 2022 is said to be on the player's mind, too.
