Stunning vintage photo shows Harry is spitting image of grandad Philip in his 30s

A vintage magazine featuring a photo of Prince Philip in the 1950s shows the similarities between the dashing duke and his grandson.

The front cover of Paris Match shows the departed royal back in 1957.

He is wearing the Tropical Dress of the Blues and Royals and is sporting several medals across his chest.

Philip, who died on Friday morning, was 35 in the photo and is sporting a full bushy beard.

The image of the duke bares a striking resemblance to his grandson Prince Harry.

Getty’s royal photographer Chris Jackson noticed how the similarity between the two royals was pronounced in a photo of Harry wearing a similar uniform on Anzac Day memorial service in Australia in 2018.

He wrote: "Whilst today it’s very much a ‘Modern Monarchy’ it’s these historical reference points that make photographing the Royal family so unique and remind you of the centuries of tradition that remain at their core."

The Duke of Sussex was 34 at the time.

The similarity was noticed before Prince Harry paid a public tribute to his grandfather, who died at the age of 99.

Along with his wife Meghan, the Duke described him as "a man of service, honour and great humour", while calling him the "master of the barbecue" and the "legend of banter".

He thanked Philip for "always being himself" and for supporting the Queen.

He said that his grandfather will always have a "special place" in the hearts of himself, Meghan, Archie and his "future great-granddaughter".

He signed the message off "Per Mare, Per Terram", which means 'By Sea, By Land' in Latin and is regularly used in the Royal Marines.
