Stunning surprise inside the Newcastle flat that's now fit for a king

At first glance, it looks like a palace fit for a king.

But this regal vision is to be found inside a suburban block of flats in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The home of award-winning interior designer George Bond, in Montagu Court in the city’s upmarket Gosforth suburb, is on the market for £750,000.

The three-bedroom apartment has a look straight out of Buckingham Palace.

But it is in the heart of Newcastle with views of the Town Moor on one side and an equally impressive look at a city landscape on the other.

The ‘truly exceptional’ decor was overhauled by Mr Bond a number of years ago with renovations taking around 18 months, costing £200,000.

It won Best Interior Design North East and Best Interior Design Apartment in 2014-2015 and 2013-2014 respectively.

A private passageway in the apartment leads to three bedrooms, the master having a walk-in dressing room and wardrobes as well as a luxury en-suite shower and wet room.

Other interior features are opulent silk wallpapering, concealed dimmer lighting, polished wooden floors, plush carpeting in the living and bedroom areas and double-glazed UV-prevention tinted windows throughout.

Mr Bond is relocating from his seventh floor home.

Estate agent Sanderson Young said it was a ‘privilege’ to offer the property for sale and encouraged suitors to look around internally.

“Accommodation briefly comprises a superb panelled door into the entrance vestibule, hallway, cloakroom/ wc and washroom, built-in double cloakroom two principal reception rooms including a large open-plan dining room,”they tell would-be buyers.

“The higher-level floor has magnificent views over the Town Moor and leads on to the balcony.

"The dining room doubles as a reception and library area and has steps down to the sunken drawing room and sitting area beneath.

“The breakfast room has been superbly fitted at a cost of £40,000 with extensive units and integrated appliances, all presented to an exceptional standard.”
