A breathtakingly beautiful Scottish beach has beaten off competition from exotic locations to make it into the world's top 25 beaches.
Hidden away in the Outer Hebrides is Luskentyre beach on the remote Isle of Harris, reports the Daily Record.
And, it's no wonder it's been voted one of the best by travellers based on TripAdvisor reviews and ratings, as Luskentyre happens to be one of the country's most photographed beaches
Harris is known for sandy beaches like Luskentyre and Scarista on the west coast, which boast white sands and inviting turquoise waters.
The Scottish jewel came in at number 13 to beat the only other UK location of Woolacombe beach, in Devon.
However, it lost out higher spots in the list beaches in Brazil, Turks and Caicos and Cuba - which secured the top three.
Tourists flock from all over the world to catch a glimpse of Luskentyre beach, which should not be underestimated, considering it takes over eight hours to get to from Edinburgh by car.
We're pretty sure that if Scotland had the sunshine of its competitors, Luskentyre beach could easily have nabbed the top stop.
The purity of the sand and the crystal clear ocean of the Outer Hebrides have even previously been mistaken for Thailand.
In 2009, a signboard displayed in the tourist centre at Koh Chang Marine National Park in Thailand used a picture of Berneray island in Scotland's Outer Hebrides by mistake with the Harris Hills visible in the background.
