Stunning school mural is all about Tay landmarks

Kinnoull Primary School pupils have been proudly showing off their new art mural in the playground.

The ‘Our Place on the Tay’ mural was unveiled at a ceremony on Friday, May 13 where the Perth pupils performed a Scottish song together as well as sharing facts about the landmarks they’d drawn.

Despite the windy weather, the event was attended by a large number of parents and community members and was hailed a great success.

The mural was completed using a grant from The Gannochy Trust, through their Living Communities Partnership Fund.

Kinnoull Primary School’s vision, values and aims are encompassed in their River of Learning, which runs through the centre of the mural with the acronym TAY (Try, Apply, You can fly).

The Perthshire pupils visited all the landmarks depicted in the mural to create sketches and pupil council leaders were tasked with choosing the final drawings for inclusion.

The completed piece is a montage of the finalists’ work along with a scroll explaining the mural to one side and Kinnoull’s Playground Charter to the other.

The school mascot, Kinnoulla the Koala, has been incorporated into the work with every pupil’s fingerprint used as their signature in her body pattern.
