'Stunning' - Pundit's verdict on Newcastle United's acquisition of Danny Rose

Former England international forward Darren Bent has labelled Danny Rose's move to Newcastle United as 'stunning'.

Rose joined Newcastle on loan until the end of the season last week and made his Magpies debut from the bench during Saturday's 0-0 draw with Norwich.

The 29-year-old had fallen out of favour at Tottenham under Jose Mourinho and was keen to play regular first team football as he looks to preserve his place in the England squad ahead of this summer's European Championships.

Rose has also often spoken about his desire to move back up north and having already lived in Newcastle during a previous loan spell at Sunderland, it was an easy decision to move back to the North East.

And Bent, who has also played in the region for Sunderland, feels that was a key factor in his decision to swap North London for the North East.

“It is stunning but at the same time he obviously likes it up there," Bent told Football Insider.

"I’ve heard that he’s been back up to watch Sunderland a few times. I think he likes it up there.

“It’s a nice place to live, it’s a massive football club, big fan base, and the most important thing is that he’s going to play week in, week out.

“He might be helped because him going in there, he’s better than what they’ve got there anyway.”
