Stunning photos show a partial lunar eclipse over Bristol

A partial lunar eclipse has been visible over Bristol and the UK this evening (July 16).

And Bristolians have been looking up to the sky to admire the spectacle and have shared their photos.

The eclipse ties in nicely with the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

The so-called Half Blood Moon glowed red as it rose over Bristol and the city was treated to some great views of our nearest neighbour in space thanks to a break in the cloud at around 10pm.

The eclipse is the last for a few years.

The mid-eclipse is expected to take place around 10.30pm and the event will end shortly before 1.30am.
