Stunning images show first phase of new canal marina in West Lothian being filled with water

New images show the first stage of the canal marina in West Lothian being flooded.

Two pupils from Holy Family Primary and Winchburgh Primary joined the CEO of Winchburgh developments to begin the process, and release water back into the canal.

John Hamilton, CEO of Winchburgh Developments said: “It was great to see so many community members come and see this next stage in the marina development bringing the Union Canal back into full use.

“I would like to thank the team at I & H Brown Ltd and the specialist sub contractors as well as our engineers, SWECO for their work on the marina as we reach the final stages.

“We all look forward to the coming weeks when we will see the marina itself flooded for the first time marking a major milestone in the development of the new Winchburgh Marina.”

Once completed the marina will have bars and restaurants for local residents to enjoy by the waterside.

A range of canal-side luxury apartments are also being built on the site.
