Stunning Joshua v Ruiz snap takes top prize in World Sports Photography Awards

A host of stunning photographs - including a breathtaking snap from Anthony Joshua's clash with Andy Ruiz Jr - are among the winners of the 2020 World Sports Photography Awards.

24 winning images have been revealed from an extensive shortlist, featuring some of the biggest moments in the world of sport over the last year.

And it's Richard Heathcote's remarkable image from the December super-fight in Saudi Arabia that takes the top gong among other snaps of sports stars such as Ben Stokes, Tom Brady, Kelley O’Hara and Alex Morgan.

The brilliant pictures capture sport in its purest form, with a host of categories such as Joy, Precision, Speed, Focus, Determination, Power, View and Celebration showing the best on offer.

The winning entries have been selected by a jury of sports industry professionals.

“Sport and Photography have a long and powerful relationship. The emotion, athleticism and focus that is at the heart of sport is a uniquely captured and communicated through photography. These are an amazing collection of images across sporting disciplines and with all sorts of stories behind them.

"Thanks to our winner Richard Heathcote and all the photographers for entering their images, and to our judges for their time spent judging the excellent submissions," co-founder Alan Whiter said.
