A houseboat moored on the canal in the north of Glasgow could be the perfect holiday rental in Glasgow - and thanks to its colour scheme, it gained a bit of fame this week.
The houseboat, called Gerda of Glasgow, has signage inspired by the city’s favourite orange fizzy drink and is located around 10 minutes from the city centre.
Glasgow Live first covered the charming little houseboat in 2018 - but Gerda got a lot more attention this week when Irn Bru gave it a shout-out on social media.
Originally built in 2017, the Airbnb has an open plan kitchen and a charming living room which features a real stove. It’s also got two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of which has a bath and the other a shower.
When the boat originally went on sale in August 2018, Glasgow Live reported the listing, with the current owners snapping it up and turning it into a luxury residence.
The website describes the boat as having all the conveniences you would expect from a conventional home.
It reads: “Experience life on the canal from a beautiful Dutch barge with all the conveniences of home. Well appointed with a wood-burning stove in the living area, and porthole windows that perfectly set off a maritime atmosphere in this unique setting.”
This home has everything from the gorgeous Queen size bed to the two cute singles or the stunning tiled bathroom with a porthole shedding a circle of light into the room. We’re not surprised this is an ‘Airbnb Plus’, it really does offer a life of luxury.
