Arsenal’s rampant victory over Leeds on Saturday evening highlighted that Arsenal will be able to save millions in the January transfer window due to the success of Gabriel Martinelli.
The Brazilian was marvellous in the match at Elland Road, and his two excellent goals in the first half epitomised the impact he had on the game.
In recent weeks, it seemed Arsenal were desperate for a new striker or a winger due to the lack of attacking intent in the final third, and this was predicted to be made even worse with the absence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang due to his disciplinary issues.
However, the recent inclusion of Martinelli over the past few matchdays has elevated the Arsenal attack, which was shown with his magnificent run to secure his brace, leaving the Leeds defence for dust as he finished with composure past Illan Meslier.
It was a goal that told Arsenal to avoid signing a striker, such as Dusan Vlahovic, who the club have been linked with.
Martinelli found game time hard to come by at the start of the season, as Arteta used him as a makeshift player with other individuals in his position being seen as preferred options.
However, since the 20-year-old’s excellent cameo against Newcastle, which resulted in him scoring his first goal of the season, he has been a regular starter in the side.
His contagious energy has elevated the attack for Arsenal, as the team have been creating chances galore in the last two Premier League matches, which was a rarity in the opening weeks of the campaign.

The Gunners mustered 11 shots on target in the first half, which is more than any other single first half recorded in the Premier League over the last six seasons. This just shows the difference in attacking intent from Arteta's side compared to the start of the season.
The newfound partnership between the youngster and Alexandre Lacazette has unlocked an attacking phase that follows the strength and consistency of the defence.
Despite the absence of former captain Aubameyang, it could force Edu to think twice about securing the signature of a new forward as a priority in the transfer market.
Arsenal must improve squad depth in midfield, and the successful emergence of Martinelli will be able to give Mikel Arteta some breathing space in the transfer window.
Renato Sanches and Franck Kessie are two midfielders that have been linked with the club and could be available for purchase next month.
The display against Leeds was certainly Arsenal’s best performance so far this season, as the top four race has received a positive update for the Gunners.
Meanwhile, credit must be given to Martinelli, who has played a big part in an impressive run for Arteta's side.
