Stunning footage shared by Irish Navy member shows LE Roisin's arrival into Dublin

A stunning video showing the LE Roisin's return to Dublin has been shared by a member of the Irish Navy.

The sped up footage shows the ship's arrival into the capital as it goes through the East Link before docking along the River Liffey. It was shared by Lieutenant Commander Grace Fanning who said "Dublin inbound! Always nervous waiting for the East Link to open."

LCDR Fanning and the crew also welcomed Dublin Fire Brigade's 'D' watch from Phibsborough and HQ onto the ship for a walkthrough. And on a special appearance on Ireland AM she appealed for anyone interested in a career with the Irish Navy or Defence Forces to submit an application.

She said: "My job is to monitor the weather all the time. Because if there's bad weather, it's obviously extremely dangerous in a maritime environment. We've a big recruitment drive [at the moment].

"We're taking direct entries, electricians, radar technicians, mechanics and then even if you're finishing your Leaving Cert and you're thinking of a job you want to do for a short time, we're taking people straight in to recruits. It's 23 weeks training for both men and women."
