A popular canalside pub in Sale which closed at the start of the year has reopened under new ownership to the delight of locals.
The Bridge Pub and Dining closed in January after owners Lisa Kettle and Danielle Condron, who had run the venue since 2016, announced the ‘very hard decision during these difficult times’. The couple also ran No 1 Canal Street in Manchester’s Gay Village, which closed at the same time.
The venue on Dane Road, which overlooks the Bridgewater canal, has reopened today (April 6) under the ownership of JW Lees and has been renamed The Bridge Inn.

The venue is described as a 'stunning canal side pub serving cask ales, craft lagers, cocktails, pub classics & woodfired pizzas'. An outdoor pizza oven will make pizzas fresh to order, with a selection of vegan and vegetarian options, whilst the pub will also offer brunch, evening and Sunday roast menus and an array of JW Lees cask ales on tap.
The evening food menu will feature the likes of Cheshire cheese and onion pie, fresh cod, Angus sirloin steak, pan fried seabass fillet and Meatless farm burgers, with two courses for £17.95 and three for £21.95.
Sharing the news of the reopening on social today, the venue posted: “And we're off! Enjoy days in our sunny canalside beer garden, hand made wood-fired pizza, refreshing cask ales and lagers and seasonal specials.”
Another post said: “It’s finally here It’s our OPENING DAY and the sun has decided to shine.
Our first customers have arrived so why not join us. Our pizza oven is warming too so why not come and try.”
The posts were met with excitement from locals, who were keen to pop in and visit. One person replied: “Glad to see it back open and I am looking forward to coming on Monday to try out the new menu.”
Another said: “Good Luck we have all missed The Bridge x”
“My after work slurp is back,” another responded. While someone else said: “Good luck for today and bonus the sun is going to be shining over the Easter weekend which always draws a crowd to your outside area.”
Sharing their delight, another wrote: “Welcome back! You were missed! Looking forward to popping in frequently for a few!”
