Stunning aerial footage has captured panoramic views over Gedling Country Park.
Local resident Steve Jones, 58, flew a drone over the former pit site, recording a video offering sweeping views of the countryside.
Having captured the footage earlier this month, Mr Jones, of Kings Avenue, in Gedling, a HGV mechanic, said: "I've done quite a bit of flying but I can't afford to be a full-time pilot. Or a light aircraft owner as such.
"For a few hundred pounds you can get up there and do it and do it in the drone.
"It's just the views and the different view on everthing. It's lovely.
"The actual video camera is really quite good. As you can see from the footage, they're not the worst images.
"I've not messed about with that in any editing suite.
"I've not altered any colours or anything. It's just quick and easy to do."
Mr Jones, who flies drone as a hobby, operated the machine from playing off Lambley Lane, and spent around an hour flying his device last month.
He added: "As regards location and everything, it is quite vast. The range that I've got with that drone is very limited, I can't fly too far away.
"You have to keep it in the line of sight."
The video also shows the vast new Chase Farm housing estate taking shape.
A spokesman for Keepmoat Homes, the developer behind the plans, said: “Our Chase Farm development is a partnership between ourselves, Homes England and Gedling Borough Council.
"The first phase of the development includes 506, two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, which will create a new community with green corridors linking existing residential areas along Arnold Lane into Gedling Country Park."
