Stunned walker finds collapsed teenager stabbed to death on grassland

A teenager was found stabbed to death on grassland in Coventry this evening.

Police have launched a murder investigation.

The young man was found collapsed by a person out walking in the north Coventry suburb of Wood End roughly 7pm, West Midlands Police said.

Emergency services were called to the area, just off Petitor Crescent, where they found the victim had suffered multiple stab wounds to his torso.

The victim, who police said was believed to be a teenager, was declared dead at the scene.

Detectives have sealed off the scene for a fingertip search and forensic examination.

A statement from the force said: " Enquiries are underway to identify the body and understand what led up to the killing.

"We’re appealing for anyone who was in the Petitor Crescent area of Wood End this afternoon or early evening and saw anything suspicious, a disorder, or people running from the scene to get in touch as they could hold important information."

Anyone driving through the area who dash-cam footage has been urged to get in touch with police on 101 or message the force on Live Chat via the website quoting log 2263 from 5 Feb.

Information can be passed anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
