Stunned Meghan's one-word reaction as she reads William's text after Oprah interview

Meghan Markle is captured on camera reacting to a message Prince William sent Prince Harry after the couple's interview with Oprah early last year.

On their controversial Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, Harry can be seen holding his phone up to Meghan to show her the message, to which she replies one word before embracing him.

In the sixth episode of their six-part series, which is part of a £100m deal with Netflix, producer and director Tyler Perry, 53, recalls the Oprah interview airing.

"When I watched it, I thought 'there's so much more she could have said, but because she's such a classy, elegant woman, she didn't," Tyler said.

The footage then cuts to a scene of Meghan and Harry at home in California, where Meghan is on the phone to Tyler, reading out a full statement from Buckingham Palace on behalf of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Meghan reads: "The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

"The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

"Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members."

Seconds later, a worried Harry comes over to show Meghan a text on his phone, holding up the message in the air for her to read.

Stunned Meghan says, "What am I looking at?" before reading the text and responding one word: "Wow".

The pair appear surprised and overwhelmed, before Meghan ends the call with Terry saying: "H just got a text from his brother."

Harry, who looks distressed with his hands behind his head, says, "I wish I knew what to do."

"I know. Let's take a breather. Get some air and then decide," Meghan replies, standing up and wrapping her arms around his waist for a hug.

The couple take a moment to embrace each other in a tight hug, staring out of the window in silence.

In March 2021, Oprah's sensational sit-down with the couple made international headlines.

The highly anticipated interview saw the couple lift the lid on life behind Palace walls and make several allegations about their family.

One of the most shocking lines from Harry and Meghan's bombshell tell-all interview was a claim that Harry had "conversations" within the royal household about how dark son Archie's skin might have been before he was born.

During the interview, Meghan refused to say who the conversations had been with, saying it would be "very damaging to them".

Later in the chat, Harry also said he would never reveal the details of the conversations - although it was later reported the comments were not made by the late Queen or the late Duke of Edinburgh.

Meghan also opened up about her mental health struggles and admitted she had suicidal thoughts during her time in the royal family.

She explained how she "didn't want to be alive anymore" and when asked directly if she was thinking of self-harm and having suicidal thoughts at some stage, Meghan replied "yes".
