Stunned locals find gifts dotted around village from mystery 'Secret Santa'

A 'Secret Santa' has been spreading some early Christmas cheer in a quiet English village.

Residents of Kegworth, Leicestershire, have been finding wrapped presents dotted around the town.

Stunned locals have been sharing their discovery of gifts on a local Facebook group, reports LeicestershireLive .

The gifts come handwrapped and often have a thoughtful hand-written note from the mystery benefactor who signs off as "Kegworth's Secret Santa".

Josh Connor - who lives in the town - said he had not been well recently and that times had been "difficult".

So when he stumbled across a small wrapped gift his day cheered up immediately.

Josh said a small thing like this was a great reminder that there was good outside in the world despite the number of negative news stories.

"I think it’s a nice thing to do, someone has put a lot of time and effort into this and with all the conflict regarding natural disasters and politics around the world it’s something lighthearted and wholesome."

Lorrae Sunley is another of those who found a gift in the village and shared her findings.

The 25-year-old mum said:" I found it in Derby Road near the chippy  on a bench. It was a little set of chocolates.

"I feel that it's a really nice thing for someone to do - it brightened up my day and definitely my son's."

Ellie Fox, 22, found her wrapped chocolate reindeer on top of a wall whilst out on her lunch break.

"I was on my lunch break at work and found it on the wall at first I thought someone had dropped a gift and then I read the tag and it was a random act of kindness for someone to find!

"I went back to work and told all my colleagues about it and everyone agreed it was a lovely thing for someone to do, warmed our hearts."

Although the Secret Santa is yet to be unmasked, he or she has been highly successful in bringing joy to the residents in Kegworth.
