Spoiler warning for Riverdale season 4, episode 4
The latest episode of Netflix teen drama Riverdale will definitely cause a stir as it showed another flashforward to the end of senior year that took the "What happened to Jughead?" storyline to increasingly dark territory.
The Halloween episode featured another flashforward scene that showed Jug's beloved Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) and his father FP (Skeet Ulrich) identifying Jug's corpse in a morgue, seemingly confirming that Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) meets his maker.
He looks rather grey, cold, and dead when Betty and FP look at the dead body, but is it even really Jughead?
Either way, fans took to social media to air their strong views on the storyline.
One wrote on Twitter : "Don't wanna sound dramatic but if jughead is dead dead dead i wouldn't be sure to keep going with #Riverdale "
Another said: "Jughead is dead! K bye riverdale"
One was just angry: "Hate Riverdale, you can’t kill Jughead he is the narrator and arguably the main character. @TheCW "
Meanwhile, one was adamant that they would be finished with the show: "If Jughead is really dead this season, i will not watch Riverdale again. Ever."
Another explained: "It’s getting so hard to support #Riverdale when they keep messing with us. I promise if Jughead dies, I’m done watching the show. I literally am obsessed with #Bughead and it’s the main reason I watch the show. Don’t mess this up guys @CW_Riverdale , we’re all counting on you."
Finally, however, one fan has some serious doubts about the latest twist: " #Riverdale keeps trying to convince us #Jughead is dead, like we haven't seen that song & dance a million times already (remember when they pulled his "body" from the woods after Penny & like 20 gangsters beat him up?) "
We do know that the mid-season finale will see Jug come face to face with his grandfather and namesake, Forsythe Pendleton Jones as the secrets of the past and Stonewall Prep storyline converge.
Additionally, Betty is continuing her role with the Junior FBI - could this have something to do with faking Jug's death?
Let's just say we wouldn't be prepared to say goodbye to Jug's beanie just yet!
