Stuff A Bus Toy Appeal raises more than £100,000 for local children

With 100,000 children in Northern Ireland estimated to go without toys this Christmas, the annual Stuff A Bus NI Toy Appeal went virtual with a £50,000 target to help families in need.

Adopting an entirely virtual approach due to Covid-19 restrictions, figures showed there was an increasing level of need this year as more families face financial difficulties, who had never needed support before.

With one day left to donate, over £100,000 has been raised in aid of the Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul Family Appeal, smashing the Appeal target. To donate, visit here.

Chris Conway, Group Chief Executive, Translink thanked everyone for their efforts.

He said: “Thank you to everyone who supported the Stuff A Bus Virtual Toy Appeal this year – together we have made a real difference for many families across Northern Ireland this Christmas.

“Every year we wonder if we can beat the previous year’s target and it was wonderful to see how our Translink team came together with the wider NI public, as well as our partners U105 and Belfast Live, to help ensure no child experiences an empty Christmas.”
