Study shows Spurs are more efficient in the transfer market than Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United

Tottenham Hotspur haven't spent a single penny across the past two transfer windows, but a study shows they have mastered the art of buying players.

January 2018 was the last time a new face arrived at the north London outfit.

That was Lucas Moura from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain and supporters are hoping that this summer brings about change as they look to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.

Those two teams have assembled expensive squads respectively and it's no shock that they're leading the way at the top of the table.

City are currently trailing the Reds by a couple of points but are first when it comes to transfer fees of the 10 most used players by each Premier League club this season.

This means the likes of Ederson, Raheem Sterling, Aymeric Laporte who all cost over £30m have ensured Pep Guardiola side's league position based on points per game would be right at the top.

But as pointed out by Daniel Storey on Twitter, the biggest winners are Spurs.

Based on the transfer fees of their 10 most regular starters in the Premier League this season they rank seventh - behind London rivals Chelsea (3rd) and Arsenal (5th) as well as Manchester United (2nd).

Yet the Lilywhites have outperformed that trio with the likes of Davinson Sanchez, Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung-min ensuring the clubs points per game has them third in the table.
