Studs and duds in Titans’ 42-20 win over Jaguars

Divisional contests have proved difficult for the Tennessee Titans in recent times, but Sunday was a different story.

The Jacksonville Jaguars traveled to Nissan Stadium for their second matchup of the season against the Titans, and came out on the losing end as the Titans kept the momentum throughout the 42-20 win.

Here’s a look at a handful of players who performed well, and some who would like to have a play or two back.

Stud: QB Ryan Tannehill

We know Marcus Mariota has wheels and has come in clutch making plays with his legs, but Tannehill has proven equally talented. The starter completed 14-of-18 pass attempts for 259 yards and two touchdowns.

He also finished second among the team’s rushers on the day, carrying seven times for 40 yards and two touchdowns.

Dud: CB LeShaun Sims

There weren’t many players who stood out as having a particularly bad day against the Jags, but Sims certainly didn’t have his best. There were a few plays early in the game that he could have made an impact on, but failed to capitalize.

Stud: OL Dennis Kelly

Who says offensive linemen can’t score touchdowns? Kelly has posted several solid performances protecting the quarterback, but also took one to the house on Sunday.

Stud: OLB Harold Landry

Landry has been a consistent factor on defense, and didn’t disappoint on Sunday. He’s recorded eight sacks this season, and has registered a sack in four straight games.

Stud: RB Derrick Henry

Henry is the heart and soul of the run game, and one of the most valuable players Tennessee has on offense. Sunday certainly wasn’t his first time running all over the Jaguars, but it was a performance to remember.

Henry recorded 19 carries for 159 yards with two touchdowns, also reeling in a 16-yard reception.

Stud: Offensive line

There weren’t many good things to say about the unit toward the beginning of the year, but they got the job done this week. Tannehill was sacked just one time, and left tackle Taylor Lewan stayed free of penalties.
