Studs and duds in Cardinals’ 34-7 loss to the Rams

The Arizona Cardinals lost 34-7 to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. Who were the players to stand out for good and not so good?

Check out our studs and duds from the game.

Stud: P Andy Lee

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

It’s pretty bad when the punter makes this list. He punted seven times averaging 44.4 yards per kick. However, his net average was 43.6 yards, which is fantastic. Four of his punts were downed inside the 20.

Dud: RB Kenyan Drake

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Drake gained only 31 yards on 13 carries on Sunday. He did have two catches for 20 yards, but his impact on the game was minimal. Now the lead back, he didn’t produce any more than David Johnson had been previously as the starter.

Dud: QB Kyler Murray

 Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Murray looked as bad as he has looked all year. He was sacked six times. He was picked off once but had another dropped and another that was actually intercepted but nullified by a penalty on review. He had only 163 passing yards and looked uncomfortable.

Dud: WR Damiere Byrd

Byrd did not have a big role but got to play for the first time in a few games. His wrong route ended the Cardinals’ first drive. He finished with three targets and zero catches.

Dud: CB Patrick Peterson

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Peterson finished with eight tackles, including a tackle for loss, but his biggest impact was on a play where he didn’t have a tackle. He got blocked out of the play by quarterback Jared Goff when Robert Woods turned a reception for almost no gain into a 48-yard play. He did not get his hand on a single football and his effort on the Woods play was unacceptable.

Dud: OLB Terrell Suggs

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Suggs played 42 snaps but you wouldn’t have known it. He registered zero statistics at all. No tackles, no pressures, no QB hits — nothing.

Dud: OLB Chandler Jones

Jones got credited with half a sack but should not have. The one sack the Cardinals had of Jared Goff, Jones didn’t touch him. He also had four tackles and two QB hits. However, he did not have an impact on the game and should have been shut out of sacks for the third straight game against the Rams.
