Studs and duds in Cardinals’ 27-10 loss to Seahawks

The Arizona Cardinals lost on Sunday to the Seattle Seahawks 27-10, falling to 0-3-1 on the season. Some players stood out for their performance. Others did not.

Who were the studs and duds for the Cardinals in Week 4?

Stud: Terrell Suggs

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Suggs, who had been mostly invisible for the previous two weeks, came up big against Seattle. He finished with eight tackles, 1.5 sacks, two tackles for loss, one quarterback hit and a forced fumble. He wasn’t perfect, as he gave less than a great effort on a couple of outside runs, but he produced this week and now leads the team with 3.5 sacks on the season.

Dud: Chandler Jones

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Jones was around the quarterback some but he went without a sack against the Seahawks for the first time in his career. He finished with only three tackles. He did not have a sack, a tackle for loss or a QB hit. He never got his hands on Russell Wilson.

Stud: Byron Murphy

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Murphy was credited with one pass breakup in the end zone. He should have had a second, also in the end zone, except Chandler Jones was flagged for roughing the passer on the play. He continues to show he was worth the top pick in the second round. He added five tackles in the game.

Dud: Zane Gonzalez

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Gonzalez missed two field goals on Sunday. They were his first misses of the season. And the one field goal he made, it was shaky. Had he made both of those missed kicks, the Cardinals would have pulled within 20-16 on Kyler Murray’s touchdown run, changing the complexity of the game.

Stud: David Johnson

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Johnson didn’t have a big game rushing, gaining only 40 yards on 11 carries. However, he had eight receptions for 99 yards. In all, that adds up to 139 yards from scrimmage, which is fantastic.

Dud: D.J. Swearinger

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Swearinger finished with eight tackles but had struggles in coverage and isn’t showing the physicality for which he has been known his entire career.
