The Tennessee Titans’ four-game winning streak came to a heartbreaking end as the team fell, 24-21 to the division rival Houston Texans in Nissan Stadium on Sunday.
With the loss, the Titans sit at the No. 2 spot in the AFC South, and will face a rough road making it into the playoffs.
Here’s a look at some players who stood out, and others who would like to have a play or two back.
Stud: TE Jonnu Smith
What can’t Smith do at this point? One of his biggest plays came on a 57-yard rush in the fourth quarter to help give the Titans some momentum.
He finished the game with five receptions for 60 yards, in addition to the rushing play.
Dud: K Ryan Succop
Succop just hasn’t been the same player since he returned from injury this season. He missed a lone field goal attempt that totally could have changed the outcome of the game, and has now made just one of six attempts after getting back to the field.
Stud: S Kenny Vaccaro.
The final score of this game could have been a bit more lopsided, but Vaccaro was a big part of preventing that.
The Texans set themselves up in good position for a scoring drive on their first possession, but Vaccaro brought them to a halt with an interception in the end-zone to give the Titans the ball.
He totaled six tackles in addition to the interception on the loss.
Dud: RT Jack Conklin.
Pass protection absolutely has to improve for the Titans going forward, who have experienced up and down play from the offensive line throughout the season. Conklin, who certainly could have done a better job on Sunday, is a major part of that.
Stud: LB Jayon Brown.
Brown led the defense, finishing the game with 10 tackles – seven of which were solo tackles – and an interception.
His biggest play came on an end-zone interception late in the second half on what almost certainly would have been a scoring drive for the Texans.
Stud: WR A.J. Brown
The Titans couldn’t ask for more from the rookie, who is easily the team’s No.1 receiver.
He finished the contest as the team’s leading receiver with eight receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown.
