Studs and duds from Eagles 38-35 win over Lions in Week 1

Jalen Hurts, Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, and Kenneth Gainwell combined for four rushing touchdowns to help Philadelphia outlast Detroit 38-35 in Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season.

There is a lot of good and a ton of wrong to take from the season-opening win, and growth needs to happen between now and when the Vikings descend upon Lincoln Financial Field on Monday night.

Jalen Hurts looked calm and under pressure leading the Eagles, while A.J. Brown is everything as advertised after setting a franchise record in his debut.

With Philadelphia off until Wednesday, here are your studs and duds for Week one.

According to PFF, Hurts gained 66 yards after contact and he also forced six missed tackles after racking up 90-yards rushing and 243-yards passing.

Smith was targeted four times, and no catches, and was among the lowest graded Eagles in Week 1.

During his Monday press conference, Nick Sirianni confirmed his commitment to the Heisman Trophy winner.

Sanders is in a contract year and made a resounding statement, logging 13 carries for 96-yards and his first touchdown since 2020.

Dud -- Quez Watkins

Like DeVonta Smith, Watkins was held without a catch and wasn’t even targeted.

Slay did give up the touchdown pass to Chark, but he faced a game-high nine targets, only allowing three catches for 55 yards, and was among the highest graded defenders.

Dud -- Avonte Maddox

Maddox had three tackles on the day and missed what seemed like a handful of others.

Stud -- Marlon Tuipulotu

The former USC Trojans defensive tackle improves each week, and during the season opener, Tuipulotu finished as the second highest graded defender according to Pro Football Focus.

Tuipulotu finished the day with 1 pressure and 1 quarterback hit.

Dud -- Jordan Mailata

Hurts saved the Eagles on Sunday, and Mailata was among the issues upfront that the quarterback was able to hide.

The massive left tackle was among the lowest graded players on offense and struggled at times against Lions rookie Aidan Hutchinson.
