Studio flat on market for €140k with bed where 'if you roll over you die'

This studio flat could be yours for £125,000 (€140,000) - but it has left internet users baffled thanks to a bizarre set-up involving the bed.

The property is such a squeeze that a double bed has been built over the stairs to create more space for the next owner or tenant.

One photo shows that a step ladder is necessary to clamber onto the bed, which is just steps away from the kitchen.

It's one of many recent examples of ridiculous layouts in properties for sale or rent in the UK, and it's left some moaning about the state of the market.

One Twitter user wrote: "How is that bed legal, you roll over and you DIE."

Another person wrote: "There's a perfectly adequate floor with enough space for the bed???

"It doesn't need to be suspended over anything, let alone stairs???

"What the HELL were they on when they thought up this diy nightmare?"

And a third mocked the estate agents, writing: "Don’t worry you won’t die if you roll over at night because we’ve nailed a shelf to the ceiling to stop you that’ll be a hundred and twenty five thousand pounds please.”

The bed is elevated above the staircase, with an online listing boasting of a "built in bed over the stairs".

The property has since been taken off the market, but it was priced at £125,000.

The listing described it as a "spacious and well converted top flood studio flat".

It comprises a kitchen area, bathroom and studio area.

One Twitter user wrote sarcastically: "For only 125.000 you can risk falling to your death while you sleep!

"You're not gonna get a better deal that this!"

London is notorious for listings like this one.

A studio flat available for £750 per month was slammed as "worse than prison" due to the kitchen, toilet and washing machine being under the bed.

The estate agents boasted of a "great studio flat" with a "mezzanine sleeping area".

But the sleeping area sits above a kitchenette barely bigger than a dining room table, and a toilet is squeezed into a narrow corridor underneath the bunk.

In Greater Manchester, a recent listing shows a property that needs plenty of work outside as the back garden could be compared to a jungle.

The listing for the three-bedroom semi-detached home in Davyhulme - on the market for offers over £270,000 - describes it as a "generous, fully enclosed lawned garden to the rear".

However, it is so overgrown and wild the grass isn't visible.
