BENGALURU: Hundreds of students protested on Friday against discontinuation of scholarships for Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and Other Backward Community under the State Scholarship Portal. The protest was held under the banner of National Students Union of India.
“The reason for non-extension of scholarship is shortage of fund. It cannot be an excuse to deprive meritorious students from their right to education and, especially, SCs, STs and OBCs,” a release said.
Sudden stopping of scholarship benefit has compelled many students to drop out of education mid-way, the organisation said.
