Students 'should be able' to sit tests

Students should be allowed to sit the General Aptitude Test (GAT) and the Professional Aptitude Test (PAT) even if they're infected with Covid-19, said Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam.

He insisted no students, including those with Covid-19, should be deprived of the chance to take the exams which form part of the university entrance screening process.

The exams are being organised until Feb 9 nationwide. However, criticism has been directed against the authorities' handling of students infected with Covid-19.

It was unclear if these students will be able to sit the exams.

However, Mr Wissanu said it was their right to have the tests and that the infected students could be placed in rooms away from other examinees.

He said he would discuss with the Education Ministry ways to solve the problem.
