Students seen jumping from halls of residence windows after security alerted to 'gathering'

Video footage capturing University of Salford students jumping from a halls of residence building has appeared on social media.

It is believed the video was taken as security attended to a ‘gathering’ at the Peel Park Quarter student accommodation.

Footage appears to show numerous students climbing through the windows of the first-floor flat in a bid to escape.

Students can be seen helping others down while others jump without aid.

One voice can be heard joking that Salford Royal Hospital would be “full” with casualties as they watched students fall to the ground.

Another video appears to show one student cause damage to the front of the building as he loses his grip and slips from the wall.

A spokesman for the University of Salford told the Manchester Evening News action is being taken against those involved in the incident.

In a statement, the university said: “We are aware of a video circulating on social media showing an incident at Peel Park Quarter.

“Security were called and dealt with it on the night and action is being taken with regards to those involved.

“Students have been, and continue to be, reminded about the rules and behaviour that is expected of them.”
