Students were evacuated from an apartment block in north Liverpool after a fire broke out.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called out to Poet's Place off Great Homer Street in Everton at around 2.29pm today (Sunday) following reports of a fire. The block was then evacuated by firefighters.
The source of the fire was found to be on a ground floor staircase , which was put out before crews arrived. Four engines and an aerial appliance were sent to the scene.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended an incident on Great Homer Street, Liverpool on the afternoon of Sunday 27th November.
"Crews were alerted at 14.29 and on scene at 14.33. Four fire engines and the aerial appliance attended.
"This was a block of flats, firefighters investigated alarms actuating on the first and second floors, while a full evacuation took place.
"The source of the fire was located on the staircase on the ground floor. This was extinguished prior to fire service arrival. Crews then vented the building of smoke."
Crews left the scene at around 3.22pm.
