A 19-year-old suspected of killing both his parents at a Central Michigan University dormitory on Friday morning was arrested after a massive manhunt.
James Eric Davis Jr., is suspected of killing James Davis Sr. and Diva Davis in Campbell Hall, about 70 miles north of Lansing, Michigan, before fleeing the campus on foot.
Davis was arrested without incident at around 12:50 a.m. on Saturday after he was spotted on a train passing through the north end of campus, according to a statement issued by the school.
Lt. Larry Klaus said Davis was taken to a hospital Thursday night by campus police because of a drug-related health problem, or a possible overdose.
At 8:30 a.m. the next day, Davis' parents were picking him up for spring break when they were fatally shot in a family-related domestic dispute, according to authorities.
Davis Sr. was a police officer in Bellwood, Illinois, and a National Guard veteran who toured in Iraq. His mother was a real estate broker, according to her Facebook page.
The school issued a lockdown after the shooting, and police started a "slow, methodical removal" of students and faculty.
Video later revealed Davis fled on foot, and Klaus issued a public plea while warning, "He should be considered armed and dangerous."
"This has been a tragic day ... . The hurting will go on for a while," said university President George Ross.
More than 100 police officers, some heavily armed in camouflage uniforms, combed through the neighborhoods near Central Michigan University following the shooting.
About 17 hours after Davis' parents were killed, the 19-year-old was taken into custody.
