Student suspended from university for 'racist' rant about flatmates on Snapchat

A university has suspended a student in the first week of term after he posted a racist Snapchat story moaning about being stuck in "an ethnicity flat" with people who "stink".

The University of Loughborough announced their action against the fresher on Monday after screenshots of his offensive rants made its way onto other social media.

Discussing his non-white flatmates, the student, who is thought to be a fresher, wrote: "Without being racist. I've met my other flatmates.

"They're all sat in their rooms and don't speak and they all stink.

"You're not allowed to go into anyone else's flat so I'm stuck in the ethnicity flat who probably don't drink when there are loads of fittys in all the other flats.

"The only good thing is my leftover curry from last night."

Although the post was apparently deleted, a screengrab was taken and it was shared on social media on Sunday where it caused outrage among appalled Twitter users.

Loughborough University responds on Twitter about the post (News Dog Media)

"Sad thing is the 'Fitty's' have seen this too."

The University of Loughborough initially replied on Twitter saying they were "aware of the post" and were launching an investigation.

However, yesterday the university followed up their initial tweet with another which reads: "Following offensive remarks of a racist nature made on social media, a student has been suspended from the University and a full investigation is underway.

"Those directly affected have received support or given offers of support."
