Student shares DIY hair mistake leaving her looking like a 'crazy a** penguin'

A trip to the hairdresser can be a costly affair which is why some people choose to save money by treating their own tresses.

TV screens are awash with adverts showing us how easy it is to change your hair colour.

Home hair dye kits allow you to cover your gray hair, change your hair to a lighter or darker hue and for the more adventurous you can go all out with brightly-coloured barnet.

But for one hapless student her mission to become a blonde out of a bottle went drastically at home - her hair snapped off.

Mortified Sienna Oliver took to TikTok to show the horrific results of her botched DIY job.

Her hair raising journey as been liked by almost 315,000 TikTok user and notched up a whopping 1.8 million views in one day.

After the gruesome aftermath of the tresses tragedy unfolded the sustainability student said: 'We live and learn."

She even jokily compared herself to ''one of those crazy a** penguins''.

Her amused viewers also noticed the striking resemblance, with one saying her hair disaster made her like Cody Maverick from Surf's Up.

''Please say 'These are my ladies','' someone said.

Another described the hairdo as ''party in the front business in the back''.

But one fellow TikToker admired her new look, saying: ''actually kinda love it.''

Another agreed: ''Bestie this is a serve tho it’s cute."

A third person tried to cheer Sienna up by saying: ''It's really not that bad...it just needs a little shaping.. to the salon!''.

While another person gushed: "Omggg that's adorable tho!!! who doesn't like penguins."

Last week a woman said her hair was ‘ruined’ after a trip to the salon where her stylist blamed her damaged locks on climate change.

Jackie Robles had visited the hairdressers to dye her light brown hair bright red as a treat.

When she left she was delighted with the bright result and showed off her new look on her social media sites.

But her joy turned to horror the next day when she washed it and said her tresses became so brittle it snapped in half as she touched it, reported the Daily Star.

When she contacted her beautician she was told a possible cause of her ruined look was climate change.

Jackie said: "I was told it was probably the climate change that did it or if I got in the ocean, but I made sure I didn't get in the water because I had just dyed it.

“When I came back I dyed it back to black and I had to cut my hair super short.

"My hair is still healing but it still feels very unhealthy at the ends.”
