Student's ceiling collapses on to bed - estate agent sends a dehumidifier

A university student's ceiling caved in above her bed - and says accommodation bosses sent her a dehumidifier.

Dasha Tzimoulis, a second year biochemistry student, got home from a festival and crawled straight into bed - only to be woken up just two hours later.

At 1am, Dasha awoke to find water dripping all over her room from the ceiling.

She called her property manager's emergency phone number, and was advised to sleep on the sofa in case her ceiling fell through.

And, sure enough, the Bristol University student woke up the next morning to find debris from a huge chunk of her ceiling all over her bed, and insulation hanging down.

Dasha told student news site The Tab: "I was sleeping and woke up to water dripping everywhere. It pretty much felt like it was raining in the room.

"It was quite late at that point, so I just slept on the couch.

"The next morning a huge portion of the ceiling had collapsed and insulation was hanging out right over where my bed is. It’s honestly lucky I woke up," Dasha added.

Ten days later, Dasha is still sleeping on the sofa while she waits for the ceiling to be fixed - and the whole flat smells of damp.

Her property manager, Digs, have put up scaffolding and said they’ll sort out the problem, but haven’t told Dasha or her flatmates when they will actually fix the ceiling.

In the meantime, they have sent Dasha a dehumidifier.
