Student protests across the UK, photographed by demonstrators

Pictures by students: Newcastle protests
Starting at the Old Union at Newcastle University, students marched into the city centre and met with counterparts from Northumbria University on the way to the city's Earl Grey monument. A group split off and occupied Eldon Square shopping centre, where they stayed for half an hour, congregating around a boombox playing revolutionary songs. They were gradually moved off back to the university where workshops were organised to discuss implications of education cuts and further action. From piano_head Photograph: piano_head/flickr
