Student mauled by pack of wild dogs at Turkish bus stop in terrifying CCTV footage

Video footage captured the moment a terrified student was mauled by dogs as she waited for a bus outside her university.

Horror CCTV images show the young woman standing on a roadside near the college when a pack of stray dogs run up to her and launch a savage attack.

The student is believed to have survived the shocking incident, which took place in Turkey at the Van Yuzuncu Yil University in the eastern city of Van.

In the heart-stopping footage, two dogs can be seen running across the road and confronting the young victim as she waits for her minibus to arrive.

The student backs away from the stray animals and several other dogs run over to join the pack, surrounding her on the road outside the university.

The student then starts to run across the central reservation and at least six wild dogs give chase, apparently attacking her legs and dragging her to the ground at the end of the video.

The attack, first reported by local media on Saturday April 9, took place while the student was waiting for a mini bus to take her home.

It is unclear what happened to the student after the filmed attack and there have been no further updates on the incident.

Stray dogs are a hot political issue in Turkey, with the country’s ruler President Recep Tayyip Erdogan calling for strays to be rounded up in December, causing an outcry on social media from pro-pooch Turks.

Many Turkish people see stray dogs and cats as collective pets, and in places like Istanbul it is common for everyone in a neighbourhood to look after the local strays.

However others dislike the animals, claiming they are unclean and pose a danger to the public.
