Student in fall from building after girlfriend leaves him

CHAIYAPHUM: A college student who went out drinking after his girlfriend broke up with him later fell from his third floor room and was critically hurt in Muang district early on Thursday.

The 17-year-old, whose name was withheld, was found lying unconscious on the ground in front of a motorcycle repair shop at Nonsamor community, tambon Nai Muang, around 5.25am, the Sawang Khunnatham Chayaphum rescue radio centre reported.

The teenager suffered a deep wound to his chin and a broken right leg. Rescue volunteers gave him first aid before taking him to Chaiyaphum Hospital.

Songwut Prajirasa, 20, a friend and owner of the bike repair shop, told police  the injured youth was a student at a college in this northeastern province. He stayed in a room on the top floor of the three-storey shophouse. 

His friend had been depressed because his girlfriend had just ended their relationship, so he went out drinking with friends, later returning to the shop.

Mr Songwut said he was woken by a loud thud in front of his shop  He went out to check and found the youth lying injured and unconscious on the ground.   

The teenager’s condition was reported to be critical and he was under close care.
