"Creating Ideas, Making A Melody Of Dreams, Promoting Imagination In Thai Kids To Go Places Worldwide" is the theme of "Honda Super Idea Contest 2022", which is accepting entries until Sept 30.
Sponsored by the Honda Motor Co, the contest is open to elementary school students from across the country. They are required to submit their creative ideas to design future inventions that are fun and benefit society.
Young contestants should draw a picture of their ideas based on imagination onto an imaginary paper that is available from facebook.com/hondasuperidea or Line: @superidea. The submission deadline is Sept 30.
Eighty entries will be selected for the second round on Oct 31 and the contestants must come up with a video presentation lasting from three to five minutes. The clips must be submitted by Nov 11 and only 15 entries will be selected for the final round.
Finalists will also have an opportunity to join the "Super Idea Super Camp", which will be held on Nov 26 and 27. They will learn to build a model of their selected idea. Funding will be provided.
For the final round, scheduled for Dec 17, contestants will have three to five minutes to present their ideas with the mock-up of their prototypes in front of a panel of judges.
The top winner will receive a royal plaque from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and 10,000 baht in scholarships while the five runners-up will each receive a plaque. All six winners will also have a chance to go on a field trip to Japan in a cultural exchange to master new skills.
Two teachers of the students who submit their ideas and become finalists in the contest will be selected to receive "Best Inspiring Teacher" awards. They will also be entitled to join the field trip to Japan with the winning students.
