Student banned for injuring woman in horror crash brazenly DRIVES off from court

A student who was banned from the road for a crash which left a woman badly injured drove away from court just minutes later.

Saif Shaikh, 20, had just pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving .

Judge Timothy Smith banned Shaikh from the road and his case was adjourned for a report to be prepared ahead of sentencing.

A verbal interim disqualification was put in place and Shaikh nodded to the judge before leaving court.

But following the hearing at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday he was pictured getting into his Volkswagen Polo GTI, the Manchester Evening News reports.

The Manchester Metropolitan University student ignored the order, was seen walking to his car - parked around 50 yards away from the court - before driving away.

He was driving the same black Polo as when he hit the woman on November 18 last year.

The court heard the woman was visiting her son, who is in permanent care at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
